Over the past decades, the IFLA – International Federation of Landscape Architects has published various books documenting the work of the Federation. In 1998, during Arno Schmid’s presidency, IFLA published the 50th anniversary “Green Book;” in 2002, it was the time of the “Red Book” under Martha Fajardo’s presidency; in 2014, the presidency of Desiree Martinez between 2010 and 2014 was documented by another milestone publication. These books are a testament to the dedication and progress that IFLA had achieved up to that point. Now, in 2023, as we mark the 75th anniversary of IFLA’s establishment, this publication sheds new light on IFLA’s identity and history while it hopes to reflect the unique diversity that the contemporary landscape profession has come to achieve. In the book, the former presidents who have significantly shaped IFLA discuss the events of their time. The IFLA regions equally explain the profession’s status quo in the various world regions. The work of the people who have received IFLA’s most prestigious award, the Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award, is also showcased in light of the impact on the profession’s advancement. Finally, the book provides insights into the future through the words of IFLA World President 2022-2024, Bruno Marques, and a commentary by the incumbent regional presidents.
